Adani Group has fully restored electricity supply to Bangladesh, four months after halving the flow due to unpaid dues. The Indian conglomerate had reduced the supply to 1,600 MW of power from a plant in Jharkhand after Bangladesh defaulted on payments amid a foreign exchange shortage.

The resumption of full power was confirmed by Bangladesh’s Power Development Board Chairman, Rezaul Karim, who stated that regular payments were now being made. The supply had been cut in October when Dhaka struggled to meet its financial obligations, with reports suggesting that Bangladesh owed Adani Power around $900 million.

Despite the payment dispute, which includes disagreements over pricing and tax benefits, the two countries have reached an agreement, allowing Bangladesh to resume receiving the full electricity supply. However, Bangladesh previously requested discounts and tax breaks, which Adani rejected, highlighting the complexities of the energy trade between the neighboring countries.
