In a strategic move to strengthen its rural economy, China recently unveiled its “No. 1 central document” for 2025, which focuses on advancing rural reforms and revitalization efforts. As the first policy statement released by the central government each year, this document sets the tone for China’s agricultural and rural policies, signaling its priorities for the future.

One of the primary goals outlined in the document is the deepening of reforms in rural areas, with a focus on improving agriculture and the livelihoods of farmers. This vision emphasizes the importance of ensuring food security while preventing a return to widespread poverty. With the backing of reform and opening-up policies, as well as advancements in scientific and technological innovation, China aims to solidify its agricultural base and bolster rural economies.

Central to this effort is enhancing agricultural productivity and invigorating rural areas, which will directly contribute to raising farmers’ incomes. This initiative is not only aimed at uplifting the rural population but is also seen as a crucial step in supporting China’s broader modernization goals. As part of these efforts, China is determined to avoid setbacks like large-scale poverty and to ensure sustained economic growth in rural regions.
