Chinese equities surged on Friday, with major indexes hitting multi-year highs, driven by a strong rally in technology and AI-related stocks.

The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 1.45 percent to 3,825.76 points, breaking through the 3,800-point threshold and marking a 10-year high. Meanwhile, the Shenzhen Component Index rose 2.07 percent to 12,166.06 points, and the ChiNext Index gained 3.36 percent to 2,682.55 points.

The STAR 50 Index led gains among tech-heavy stocks, soaring over 8 percent to reach its highest level in more than three and a half years, according to the Securities Times.

Friday’s trading saw a surge in the semiconductor sector, alongside strong performances in securities and insurance. Stocks linked to chips, computing power, and the AI industry chain were particularly active, reflecting robust investor appetite for high-tech industries.
