Iran’s Navy will host a trilateral naval exercise in an oceanic region in the near future, reflecting Tehran’s expanding international maritime cooperation and growing presence in multinational military activities, according to the commander of the Iranian Navy.
The commander said the planned drill is part of a broader effort to strengthen naval diplomacy and operational coordination with foreign partners. Iran will serve as the host nation for the exercise, which is expected to involve multiple participating countries and take place beyond coastal waters.
He noted that during the current Iranian calendar year, 1404, the Iranian Navy has maintained an active international profile, taking part in 12 different events. These engagements have ranged from scientific and professional exchanges to sports competitions and both regional and extra-regional military exercises, underscoring what he described as a sustained and diversified naval presence abroad.
Within the framework of existing economic and defense-related agreements, the commander said Naval Group 103 of the Iranian Navy is scheduled to participate in one of these international exercises in the near future. He added that members of the naval group are already en route to the designated exercise area.
According to the commander, Iran’s naval forces are expected to formally join the drill within the coming week, marking another step in the country’s efforts to project maritime capabilities and deepen cooperation with partner navies.
In addition to international engagements, he said the Iranian Navy has also planned a series of exercises with neighboring countries, as well as separate drills in oceanic regions. As part of this broader agenda, a larger trilateral exercise involving an expanded number of participating nations is also scheduled to be held soon.
Iranian officials have increasingly emphasized naval diplomacy as a key pillar of defense policy, presenting multinational exercises as a means of enhancing maritime security, improving interoperability, and reinforcing Iran’s role in regional and international waters.
