SpaceX is preparing to launch what could become the largest initial public offering in history, with plans to raise up to $75 billion and achieve a valuation of as much as $1.75 trillion. According to details reported by Reuters, the company is taking an unconventional approach by allocating an unusually large share of the offering to retail investors, signaling a major shift in how high-profile IPOs are structured.

During a recent meeting with its banking partners, Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen emphasized that individual investors will play a central role in the offering. The company intends to reward long-time supporters of Elon Musk by giving them access to shares on a scale rarely seen in public listings. Retail investors could account for a significantly larger portion of the IPO compared to the typical 5% to 10% allocation, with earlier reports suggesting the figure could reach as high as 30%.

The IPO roadshow is expected to begin in early June, with executives and bankers presenting the investment case to institutional investors. Ahead of this, more than 100 financial analysts from over 20 banks are scheduled to meet with the company. On June 11, SpaceX plans to host approximately 1,500 retail investors at a major event designed to engage smaller shareholders and build momentum for the offering.

Participation will extend beyond the United States, with retail investors from regions including the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, and South Korea expected to have access to the IPO. This global outreach reflects SpaceX’s broad appeal and its strategy to democratize access to one of the most anticipated listings in recent years.

Major financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and Goldman Sachs, are leading the deal as bookrunners, alongside a broader syndicate of banks supporting distribution across institutional and retail channels.

The planned valuation marks a sharp increase from earlier estimates. SpaceX was valued at around $800 billion in late 2025 through private share sales, before rising to approximately $1.25 trillion following its merger with Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, xAI, earlier this year. The upcoming IPO would represent a dramatic leap, underscoring strong investor confidence in the company’s growth prospects.

SpaceX is expected to release its official IPO prospectus in late May, with final details on share allocation and pricing to be determined closer to launch. If successful, the offering could redefine capital markets by setting a new precedent for retail investor inclusion and cementing SpaceX’s position as one of the most valuable companies in the world.
