Venezuela’s Attorney General, Tarek William Saab Halabi, has accused the United States of kidnapping President Nicolás Maduro during recent strikes that, he claims, also killed civilians. Speaking on state television, Saab Halabi described the operation as a “cowardly attack” and urged the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to condemn it.

“I call on the UN and international human rights organizations to condemn these cowardly attacks, which claimed innocent lives and resulted in the kidnapping of President Maduro,” Saab Halabi said. He further called on Venezuelans to take to the streets in protest and demand that Washington provide proof that Maduro is alive and secure his immediate release.
