As reported by The Financial Times, Sir Demis Hassabis, the founder of Isomorphic Labs, a drug discovery start-up owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, announced that the company plans to have its first AI-designed drug in clinical trials by the end of 2025. Isomorphic Labs, which was spun out from Google’s AI research arm, Google DeepMind, in 2021, is harnessing the power of AI to revolutionize the drug discovery process. Hassabis, who is also the CEO of Google DeepMind, shared that while traditional drug discovery typically takes five to ten years to bring a new drug to market, AI could drastically reduce that time, potentially accelerating the process by as much as ten times.
