The Iranian hacker group known as Hanzala announced it has hacked into the personal phones of high-profile former Israeli officials, Benny Gantz, Israel’s ex-Prime Minister and former Minister of Defense, and Lt. Col. Adi Sabag, who once served as Secretary of the High Command in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and is now Chief of the Inspection & Learning Division.

The hackers allege they have acquired and released a trove of personal content, including videos and photographs, from these devices. Among the leaked materials are images and video clips reportedly showing Lt. Col. Sabag in social settings, such as dancing at gatherings with other IDF members. Gantz, according to the hackers, is shown in compromising situations, allegedly involving an affair with a secretary linked to former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Hanzala group further claims that this affair included the exchange of sensitive information pertaining to Netanyahu.

As of now, Israeli officials have not verified the authenticity of the hack or commented on the specific details of the leak. However, the incident marks a new development in the cyber tension between Iran and Israel, with private lives and potentially sensitive information now entangled in a high-stakes information warfare campaign.
