From November 4 to 6, Baku will welcome over 500 rabbis from across Europe for the European Rabbinical Conference, marking the first time this major biennial gathering is held in a Muslim-majority nation, according to Jewish News Syndicate.
The conference will focus on the expansion of the Abraham Accords, a historic set of agreements fostering diplomatic ties between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries. This groundbreaking event is expected to highlight growing interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
The report also notes the potential attendance of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
This year’s gathering follows the cancellation of the previous conference in Baku, which was called off in the wake of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. The resumption of the conference in Azerbaijan signals renewed hope for continued dialogue and unity in the region.
