Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s 20-year-old daughter, has once again lashed out at her father, calling him a “pathetic man-child” in a new interview with Teen Vogue. Her comments reflect a growing rift between the two, further complicating Musk’s public image as a devoted father. Wilson’s remarks follow years of public tension, stemming from her decision to distance herself from Musk and legally disassociate from him in 2022, a move she made after filing to have her transgender identity formally recognized by a California court. As reported by The Times UK, Wilson has become one of her father’s most vocal critics, expressing deep disappointment over Musk’s actions, particularly concerning her gender transition.
Wilson has amassed nearly one million followers across various social media platforms, including TikTok, Threads, and Bluesky, where she frequently shares her experiences and criticisms of Musk. In a candid conversation with Teen Vogue, she described her father as a cold, indifferent figure who mocked her feminist views during childhood. She recalled how, despite the couple’s shared custody, Musk was often absent from her life. “He was cold,” Wilson told NBC News in a previous interview. “He’s very quick to anger. He is uncaring and narcissistic.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson, then 16, reached a breaking point regarding her gender dysphoria. She sought treatment for her condition, a move that her mother supported, while Musk expressed disapproval, later claiming he was “tricked” into signing documents permitting her to receive hormone blockers and undergo hormone replacement therapy.
Musk’s stance on his daughter’s transition has become part of his broader conservative shift. His vocal opposition to the “woke mind virus” has fueled his embrace of right-wing ideologies, with Musk linking Wilson’s gender transition to his increased political conservatism. Additionally, in his biography by Walter Isaacson, Musk referred to Wilson as a “radical Marxist,” accusing her of being coerced into hating him.

Meanwhile, Wilson, who now lives in Tokyo and is studying Japanese, French, and Spanish, has developed a burgeoning online presence. Despite her critiques of her father, she insists her social media activity isn’t activism but an expression of herself. She is an advocate for transgender care, especially for minors, and hopes to raise awareness about the importance of treatments like puberty blockers, which she believes are vital for trans youth to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Wilson is also pursuing a variety of career aspirations, including modeling and reality television. While she has been financially independent since 2020, she has not yet monetized her social media following, though she quipped that she lives “in a lot of people’s heads rent-free.”
As the rift between father and daughter continues to widen, Elon Musk remains steadfast in his position, continuing to rail against the transgender community on his social media platform, X, and linking incidents of vandalism to trans people. His remarks about the emotional volatility of hormone injections have sparked widespread controversy. Yet, Wilson remains unapologetic, emphasizing that her mission is to bring visibility to transgender issues, particularly for minors in need of support.
