Senior U.S. officials have expressed growing anxiety that the ongoing conflict involving Iran military resources, according to multiple sources speaking to the Washington Post.

Inside the Pentagon and among members of the Trump administration, officials described a “mood… intense and paranoid” as leaders weigh the potential consequences of a prolonged engagement. Concerns center on the United States’ limited air defense stockpiles, which could be rapidly depleted if hostilities continue beyond a few days.

“One of the main issues is how long this could last,” a senior official told the Post. “I don’t think people have fully absorbed it yet, like what that has done to our stockpiles. It often takes two or three interceptors to ensure a missile is stopped.” Another source highlighted the growing unease among top defense leaders that the conflict might extend for weeks, putting additional pressure on critical military resources and operational planning.

The warnings underscore the strategic challenges facing U.S. defense planners as tensions with Iran intensify. Officials are reportedly evaluating how best to manage limited missile interceptors while preparing for potential scenarios in which the conflict spreads or escalates, reflecting broader concerns about regional instability and global security.
