Sri Lankan authorities on Thursday extradited two alleged organized criminals and a woman from Dubai as part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering and other serious crimes. The suspects arrived at Katunayake Airport on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-226 at 5:20 a.m., under heavy security.
The men, identified as 52-year-old Ravin Chaminda Weerasinghe, also known as Puncha, from Uragaha, Elpitiya, and 30-year-old Kirieldeniyage Don Rasika Sanjeewa Kumara, or Chuti Malli, from Kadana, are wanted in connection with multiple crimes, including drug trafficking, extortion, robbery, and murder. Authorities described them as members of an organized criminal network operating abroad.
A third individual, 56-year-old Hewa Kasakarage Ruja Nishamani de Silva of Ratmalana, who had been under investigation for money laundering, was also taken into custody. Police said her arrest is linked to ongoing inquiries into illicit financial operations connected to the two male suspects.
The suspects were immediately transferred from the airport for further questioning and legal proceedings. Law enforcement officials emphasized that the extraditions were carried out under strict security protocols to ensure safe arrival and compliance with Sri Lankan legal procedures.
