Following the upcoming swearing-in of his new cabinet, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to announce the revival of investigations into ten significant fraud and corruption cases that have plagued Sri Lanka in recent years. This initiative marks a significant step in the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Among the cases slated for renewed scrutiny is the infamous Central Bank bond fraud, which has been a focal point of public outrage and political contention. The investigations will also encompass several other large-scale corrupt practices that reportedly occurred during the final two years of the previous administration, alongside cases from earlier governments.
Sources close to the government have indicated that preparations for these investigations are already underway. The administration aims to uncover the details of massive corruption transactions and hold accountable those responsible for any wrongdoing.
During their campaign, Anura Dissanayake and representatives of the NPP made a firm commitment to the public, vowing that corrupt officials would be prosecuted promptly once they assumed power. This renewed focus on anti-corruption measures reflects Dissanayake’s dedication to restoring public trust and ensuring justice for the people of Sri Lanka.
