Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have shared heartfelt New Year’s greetings with citizens on Earth, wishing for happiness, health, and peace while encouraging kindness and connection during the festive season.

In a video message released by Roscosmos, cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin conveyed warm wishes on behalf of his crew. “Dear friends! We, Roscosmos cosmonauts Alexey Ovchinin, Ivan Vagner, and Aleksandr Gorbunov, wholeheartedly wish you a Happy New Year 2025 from the International Space Station,” he said.

Ovchinin described the New Year as the “most heartfelt and family-oriented holiday of the year,” expressing hopes for joy and success for all Russians. His colleague, Ivan Vagner, emphasized the importance of cherishing time with loved ones during the holidays, urging everyone to spread kindness and share smiles, especially with those in need.

Reflecting on their unique perspective from hundreds of kilometers above Earth, Aleksandr Gorbunov acknowledged the challenges of being far from family during this special time. “Even in space, we feel the love and support of our families,” he said, adding that it would be several months before they could reunite.
