Yesterday, September 21, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, opening a government meeting ahead of Rosh Hashanah, highlighted Israel’s recent military achievements and hinted at the possibility of advancing peace talks with neighboring Syria and Lebanon.

“Our victories in Lebanon against Hezbollah have opened a window for the possibility of peace with our neighbors in the North,” Netanyahu said. “We are holding talks with the Syrians, and there is some progress, but that vision is yet for an appointed time.”

In his remarks, Netanyahu reflected on the past year’s developments, describing Israel’s military operations as historic. He emphasized the success of Operation Rising Lion, which he said mitigated threats from Iran’s nuclear ambitions and missile program, as well as countering Iranian influence in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and Iran itself.

“The battle for the final defeat of Hamas and the return of all our hostages continues,” he added, praising the sacrifices of Israeli soldiers.

Netanyahu also outlined his upcoming diplomatic agenda, including participation at the UN General Assembly and a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. He stressed Israel’s intention to present its perspective on regional security and counter what he described as “slanderous propaganda” at the UN, alongside opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state he views as a threat.

Domestically, Netanyahu announced plans for significant government decisions, including a multi-year plan for the rehabilitation and development of northern communities, and the promotion of local business activity. Additionally, the government will establish a national council for artificial intelligence under the Prime Minister’s Office, aimed at advancing Israel’s global leadership in AI research.
