David E. Cooper is a British author and philosopher. Educated at Highgate School and St Edmund Hall, Oxford, he began his academic career as a Lecturer in Philosophy at Oxford in 1967. He taught at several universities, including Miami, London, and Surrey, before becoming a Professor of Philosophy at Durham University in 1986, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. He has also been a Visiting Professor in the US, Canada, Malta, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
