Recently, outside the Indian High Commission in London, members of the Global Bangladeshis Alliance for Human Rights (GBAHR) and their supporters gathered to voice their concerns. They stood in solidarity with the ‘Boycott India’ movement, a grassroots campaign gaining momentum in Bangladesh.
The movement is primarily driven by outrage over the border killings by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Bangladesh borders. The loss of innocent lives has sparked widespread calls for accountability.
Additionally, demonstrators criticized India’s perceived support of what they term as a puppet government in Bangladesh, viewing it as interference in democratic processes and a threat to hard-won freedoms.
The demonstration aimed to denounce what was perceived as India’s hegemonic behavior and aggression towards Bangladesh’s sovereignty. The chants echoed through the streets of London as demonstrators made their voices heard.
Speakers at the event, including Shamsul Alam Liton, the UK Coordinator of GBAHR, emphasized the importance of international solidarity in the pursuit of justice and freedom. Virtual support came from figures like Dr. Shahidul Alam and Pinaki Bhattacharya.
The urgent need for global attention to the plight of Bangladeshis was highlighted by speakers such as Rupom Razzaque, Zakir Hassan, and Rakesh Rahman. In a statement, the GBAHR called on the international community to support Bangladesh in its quest for justice, freedom, and sovereignty.
