In a fiery address at a cultural event on Sunday, Hossein Taeb, former head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Intelligence Organization, vowed a surprising retaliatory response against Israel for the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Taeb stated that Iran’s planned operation would fall outside the scope of what the Israeli regime anticipates.
Taeb emphasized the severity of Israel’s internal crises, including social unrest and economic difficulties, which he believes have weakened the Zionist regime. He suggested that Israel’s current trajectory could lead to its collapse by 2028, highlighting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s and his opponents’ fears that Israel may not reach its eightieth anniversary.
Haniyeh was killed in Tehran on July 31, during his visit to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Iranian president. He was assassinated in northern Tehran by an aerial projectile. In response, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has promised a harsh retaliation, calling it Iran’s duty to avenge Haniyeh’s death.
