Colombo, Sri Lanka – From September 9 to 13, 2024, a high-profile delegation from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, led by Colonel-General V. B. Zarudnitsky, conducted an official visit to Sri Lanka. This significant diplomatic mission aimed to enhance military cooperation and educational exchanges between the two nations.

During their visit, the Russian delegation engaged in high-level meetings with key officials from the Sri Lankan Army headquarters, the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, and the National Defence College of Sri Lanka. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral military educational contacts and exploring opportunities for collaborative initiatives.

A notable outcome of the visit was the presentation of a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the Sri Lankan authorities. This document outlines proposed areas of cooperation and aims to formalize and deepen the military educational ties between the two countries.
