Renowned actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg with his own revolver early Tuesday morning, according to the Mumbai Police. The incident occurred around 5 AM at his residence in Andheri, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
Govinda was swiftly taken to Criticare Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, he has since been discharged and returned home. Reports indicate that the actor accidentally misfired the gun while cleaning it. At the time of the incident, only a servant was present in the house, as Govinda’s wife, Sunita, is currently in Kolkata.
The actor’s manager, Shashi Sinha, shared further details about the incident. “We had a 6 AM flight to catch for a show in Kolkata, and I had just reached the airport when this accident happened,” Sinha stated. “The revolver apparently fell while being stored in the cupboard, leading to the misfire. It’s truly a blessing that Govinda ji only sustained a leg injury, and it wasn’t anything more serious.”
Following the incident, police officials took possession of Govinda’s firearm and have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge. The news has raised concerns about firearm safety and handling, especially among public figures.
As fans and fellow colleagues express their relief at Govinda’s quick recovery, the actor is expected to resume his commitments shortly.
