A suicide bombing has targeted a law enforcement base in Bandar-e Lengeh, located in southern Iran on the Persian Gulf, on Saturday evening. Local media reports confirm that the attack, which occurred at approximately 7:00 PM local time, was aimed at the Intelligence Police building in the city. The blast resulted in the assassination of Mojtaba Shahidi, the head of the Bandar-e Lengeh Intelligence Police, with his companion also critically injured.
According to Iranian news outlets, the suicide bomber drove a vehicle laden with explosives directly toward the vehicle carrying Shahidi. The attack occurred in front of the Intelligence Police building, which is situated opposite the Bandar Lengeh prison compound in Hormozgan Province. Fars News Agency confirmed that the bomber targeted Shahidi’s convoy, specifically in an attempt to kill him. The blast also caused severe damage to nearby structures.
Initial reports from local forces indicate that several others may have been injured in the explosion, though details remain limited. Emergency responders have been deployed to the area, and an investigation into the attack is underway.
