Elon Musk, the eccentric billionaire behind Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), has become a global symbol of innovation, controversy, and unpredictability. According to an in-depth report by The Times, Musk’s ascension to a position of unmatched wealth and influence is marred by an erratic personality, explosive relationships, and an insatiable appetite for control.

For those working alongside Musk, navigating his world is fraught with warnings: avoid patterned clothing, suede shoes, or fragrances, lest you ignite his infamous temper. Assistants reportedly scour his social media activity daily to gauge his mood before confirming meetings. “He’s very much of his own mind and doesn’t really listen to anyone,” one insider told The Times, describing Musk’s “maniacal quest for power and legacy.”

Musk’s growing proximity to former President Donald Trump has only added fuel to the fire of his divisive reputation. Having moved into a cottage near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, Musk has earned the nickname “first buddy.” He has mingled with other elites, including Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, during exclusive dinners hosted by Trump. Yet, Musk’s stance on immigration—advocating for America to recruit the best talent globally—has enraged Trump’s core MAGA supporters, who view it as a betrayal of the “America First” agenda.

Tensions came to a head when Musk publicly defended biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy’s controversial claim that America lacks technical talent. Musk doubled down, stating, “If you want your TEAM to win the championship, you need to recruit top talent wherever they may be.” MAGA loyalists, already suspicious of Musk’s globalist rhetoric, lashed out, and Trump’s inner circle reportedly viewed his presence as a distraction. Musk, it seems, has been forced to “back off” after sensing mounting frustration.

But Musk’s political aspirations extend beyond America’s borders. He has turned his sights on Britain, where he has launched relentless attacks on Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Labour-led policies. Using X as his megaphone, Musk has amplified grievances about governance, demanded inquiries into child abuse scandals, and portrayed the UK government as inept. In the past week alone, Musk has posted or reposted about UK politics more than 200 times, turning his 210 million followers into a digital army of critics.

This sudden obsession has raised eyebrows. Some suggest Musk’s interest in destabilizing the UK government may be a personal vendetta or a bid to expand his influence globally. Rumors of his potential purchase of Liverpool Football Club have only deepened speculation. Musk’s family ties to Liverpool—his grandmother hailed from the city—add a nostalgic layer to this potential move. However, his endorsement of far-right figures, including Tommy Robinson and Germany’s AFD party, has sparked alarm, even among some of his conservative allies.

Back in the U.S., Musk’s involvement in Trump’s political machine has reshaped his circle of advisors. He has brought in Republican strategists and committed over $250 million to the campaign. Yet, insiders claim Musk’s attacks on America’s allies and his fixation on UK politics are personal crusades, with little strategic input from his team. Former Twitter executive Bruce Daisley believes Musk has been “radicalized by his own platform,” describing him as a man enthralled by conspiracy theories and the power of his massive online following.

Musk’s personal life is no less tumultuous. With 12 children from multiple relationships, public custody battles with ex-partner Grimes, and estrangement from his transgender daughter, Musk’s family dynamics are as complex as his public persona. His strained relationship with his father, Errol, adds another layer of intrigue. The two have not spoken in years, partly due to Errol’s open support for Trump during a time when Musk opposed him.

Physical insecurities have also surfaced. As rival Jeff Bezos flaunts a transformed physique, Musk has recently admitted to taking weight-loss drugs. Some speculate that Musk’s newfound closeness to Trump may be an attempt to find a father figure, with the two attending football matches and UFC fights together.

Observers, however, warn that Musk’s volatile personality may eventually test his alliance with Trump. Known for dominating conversations and pushing unsolicited ideas, Musk risks clashing with Trump’s ego. “There can only be one star in Trump’s orbit,” one insider noted, suggesting that their relationship is more fragile than it appears.

Musk’s trajectory as a power broker is as polarizing as the man himself. His critics argue he is a destabilizing force, exploiting political weaknesses for personal gain. His supporters hail him as a visionary unafraid to challenge the status quo. As The Times reveals, Musk’s foray into politics is reshaping global dynamics, but it may also mark the beginning of his most precarious chapter yet.
