Moscow’s Filatov Design Bureau is preparing to conduct the first test of its groundbreaking IF-9 flying car in January. The IF-9 car, which combines advanced engineering and innovative design, could potentially revolutionize urban transportation by seamlessly transitioning from a vehicle to a flying craft.

Key features of the IF-9 include retractable pylons equipped with engines for air screws, allowing the vehicle to transform into a quadcopter capable of vertical takeoff and landing. This design, which merges the functionality of a car and a drone, represents a significant step toward realizing practical flying vehicles.

Safety is a top priority for the design, with the IF-9 featuring a rescue system equipped with parachutes for emergency situations, ensuring protection for occupants. Additionally, the car is equipped with modern tech, including displays for lighting and controls, as well as autonomous lidar-based navigation for enhanced reliability during flight.

The IF-9 is designed with energy efficiency in mind, offering options to run on either electric or hydrogen power, catering to the growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.

A 1:5 scale model of the IF-9 is expected to undergo testing by the end of January, with full-scale development of the vehicle requiring external investment to bring the project to fruition. The success of this innovative flying car could mark a significant milestone in the evolution of urban mobility.
