The Algerian-Global NGO Coalition has strongly condemned all forms of threats and pressures against non-governmental organizations (NGOs) advocating for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that such actions violate international human rights laws. The coalition pointed to the infringement of Article 22 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and Article 5 of the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders, which protect the rights of organizations promoting universally recognized human rights.
In its statement, the coalition also expressed deep concern over the worsening human rights violations by the Israeli occupation, which it said breach several key articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including the right to life, dignity, and protection from arbitrary arrest.
Rejection of Forced Displacement and Illegal Annexation Plans
The coalition vehemently rejected the Israeli occupation’s plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza, calling these actions war crimes under the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. It also denounced remarks made by the Israeli ambassador to Austria advocating for the execution of children and military solutions, viewing them as violations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Additionally, the coalition condemned Israel’s plans to annex the West Bank and the continued settlement expansion, labeling these moves as violations of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016), which declares such actions illegal under international law.
Call for International Action
In light of these developments, the coalition called for urgent international action to hold Israel accountable for its violations and urged the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities to enforce ceasefire agreements. The coalition also reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and called on the international community to take decisive steps to ensure the protection of Palestinian rights and uphold international law.
The statement concluded with a call for justice, reiterating the need for accountability in the face of continued violations, and emphasizing that impunity would only exacerbate global crises and threaten international peace and security.
