The Trump Organization is entering the telecom industry with the launch of Trump Mobile, a new mobile phone service featuring a gold-colored smartphone priced at $499 and a monthly plan costing $47.45. The move is the latest in a growing list of ventures tied to Donald Trump’s return to the White House and a broader push by the Trump family to capitalize on the presidency to expand their global business portfolio.
As first reported by the Financial Times, the company unveiled the new service on Monday, touting it as an “all-American service for our nation’s hardest-working people.” The flagship device, known as the T1 Phone, is marketed as “proudly designed and built in the United States,” aligning with President Trump’s ongoing efforts to pressure smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung to shift production to U.S. soil.
“Trump Mobile is going to change the game,” said Donald Trump Jr., executive vice-president of the Trump Organization. “We’re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service.”
The service will operate on 5G networks provided by all three major U.S. carriers — AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile — and will include features such as telehealth access and free international calls to more than 100 countries.
The announcement follows a series of recent Trump Organization business expansions, including ventures into cryptocurrencies, fashion, watches, and global real estate. A financial disclosure filed last week with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics detailed President Trump’s diverse sources of income, including:
- $57.4 million from cryptocurrency firm World Liberty Financial
- $28.1 million in “golf related revenue” from the Jupiter Golf Club
- $1.3 million in royalties from The Greenwood Bible, which bills itself as “the only Bible endorsed by President Trump”
- $2.8 million from Trump Watches
- $2.5 million from Trump Sneakers & Fragrances
Earlier this month, the Trump family’s media company also announced plans to launch a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), aiming to tap into surging global interest in digital assets.
In the international arena, the Trump Organization recently completed a real estate deal involving a Qatari state-owned firm and a Saudi construction giant, and launched a new Trump International Tower and Hotel in Dubai, shortly before a presidential visit to the region.
While the Trump Mobile brand is prominently associated with the family business, the fine print on its website clarifies that its products and services are not directly designed, developed, or manufactured by The Trump Organization or its affiliates. A related firm, DTTM Operations LLC, filed for trademarks covering mobile phones, battery cases, and chargers just last week.
The venture is likely to reignite longstanding concerns around potential conflicts of interest stemming from Trump’s dual roles as both president and business magnate. As the Financial Times notes, the family has faced criticism in the past over their blending of public office and private enterprise.
