Sri Lanka: Government Shakes Up Cabinet in Minor Reshuffle

Several new ministers and deputy ministers were appointed today as part of a limited reorganization of the cabinet.

The Sri Lankan government has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, appointing new ministers and several deputy ministers to strengthen administrative operations. The move comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve coordination across key ministries.

Under the reshuffle, Bimal Niroshan Ratnayake has been appointed Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, while Anura Karunathilaka has been named Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation. Dr. H.M. Susil Ranasinghe has also been appointed Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply.

Several new deputy ministers were sworn in following the changes. Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, and T.B. Sarath was named Deputy Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply. M.M. Mohamed Munir has been appointed Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, and Eranga Gunasekara takes office as Deputy Minister of Urban Development.

Further appointments include Dr. Muditha Hansaka Wijayamuni as Deputy Minister of Health, Aravinda Senarath Vitarana as Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation, and H.M. Dinidu Saman Kumara as Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs.
