Elon Musk has unveiled Grokipedia, an AI-generated encyclopedia developed by his company xAI, which he claims will “purge out the propaganda” he believes has permeated Wikipedia, The New York Times reported.

The site, which briefly crashed shortly after its launch, already hosts over 800,000 entries written by artificial intelligence, compared with Wikipedia’s nearly eight million human-edited articles. Grokipedia features a minimalist dark interface with a search bar and reference links, providing users with a streamlined browsing experience.

Entries on the platform cover a range of topics, including Musk himself, OpenAI, and political figures such as Donald Trump and Zohran Mamdani. Musk’s personal entry describes him as a “blend of innovative visionary and irreverent provocateur.”

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales responded to the launch by cautioning that AI cannot replace the accuracy and rigor of human-edited content, emphasizing that the encyclopedia’s value lies in “digging in and doing the work.”

Grokipedia represents Musk’s latest venture into AI-driven platforms, reflecting his ongoing interest in leveraging artificial intelligence to challenge traditional information sources and offer an alternative to widely used online resources.
