New Delhi: Xu Feihong, the recently appointed Chinese Ambassador to India, arrived in New Delhi today to begin his tenure, marking a significant step in the ongoing diplomatic relations between the two Asian giants. Ambassador Xu Feihong, the 17th Chinese Ambassador to India, outlined his priorities and vision for fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

In an interview with Chinese media shortly after his arrival, Ambassador Xu expressed his deep honor at being appointed to his new role by President Xi Jinping. He emphasized the importance of his mission to deepen understanding and friendship between the people of China and India, expand exchanges and cooperation across various sectors, and advance bilateral relations.

Ambassador Xu highlighted the historical significance of China and India as neighbors and as the largest emerging markets and developing countries globally. Quoting President Xi Jinping, he stressed the potential global impact when the two nations speak and act in unison, underscoring the importance of cooperation over rivalry.

Acknowledging the strategic rivalry narrative often associated with China-India relations, Ambassador Xu reiterated the shared understanding between President Xi and Prime Minister Modi that both countries are partners in cooperation, not competitors. He emphasized their mutual commitment to viewing each other as opportunities for development, rather than threats.

Against the backdrop of global challenges such as climate change, food and energy crises, and economic uncertainties, Ambassador Xu underscored the importance of closer communication and coordination between China and India on global and regional affairs. He emphasized that such collaboration not only benefits both nations but also contributes to global stability and the advancement of a fair international order.
