An autopsy of Yahya Al-Sinwar, the leader of the Hamas movement who was recently killed in Gaza by Israeli forces, indicates that he went without food for three days before his death, according to reports from Iran’s IRNA news agency. The findings, which emerged from an Israeli medical examination, showed signs of severe hunger, concluding that Sinwar and his group had endured significant deprivation in the days leading up to the operation that claimed their lives.

Sinwar’s death was confirmed on October 18, 2024, marking a significant development in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. His leadership of Hamas, recognized as a resistance movement by its supporters and a terrorist organization by other nations, has been central to the group’s operations in the region. According to the Samaa News Agency, which originally broke the story, this final period of fasting underscored the increasingly desperate conditions in Gaza.

The report has intensified scrutiny on the humanitarian challenges faced by those within the region, highlighting the extent of scarcity impacting both civilians and combatants in Gaza amidst the intensifying conflict.
