At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has embarked on a state visit to China. On the morning of January 15, the President visited the exhibition hall that chronicles the history of the Communist Party of China, gaining insights into the party’s significant role in the nation’s development.

Following the exhibition, President Dissanayake toured the historic Prince Kung’s Palace Museum, renowned for its cultural and architectural significance. The visit to this historic site further strengthened the cultural ties between Sri Lanka and China.

Later in the day, President Dissanayake paid tribute at the Mao Zedong Mausoleum, offering floral respects to Mao Zedong, the founder of the People’s Republic of China. The gesture highlighted the deep admiration and respect Sri Lanka holds for China’s revolutionary history.

The President was accompanied by Sri Lanka’s Foreign Affairs, Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, and Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake. Both ministers actively participated in the events, marking a significant moment in Sri Lanka-China relations.
