State President Lương Cường and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka paid a solemn visit to the President Hồ Chí Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace in Hà Nội on Monday morning, marking a meaningful moment within the framework of President Dissanayaka’s state visit to Việt Nam.
The visit to this historic site underscored the deepening friendship and diplomatic ties between Việt Nam and Sri Lanka. Located in the heart of Hà Nội, the President Hồ Chí Minh Relic Site is a national treasure, preserving the memory and legacy of the revered Vietnamese leader, who lived and worked there during the final 15 years of his life, from 1954 until his passing in 1969.
President Cường and President Dissanayaka toured several key locations associated with Hồ Chí Minh’s life and leadership, including the famous stilt house, the tranquil fish pond, and a bronze statue depicting the late president at work in the palace gardens. The relic site houses numerous artifacts and documents that reflect President Hồ’s ideology, moral values, and simple yet noble lifestyle.
During the visit, President Cường shared insights into President Hồ Chí Minh’s enduring contributions to Việt Nam’s revolutionary cause, calling him “the most beautiful symbol of patriotism and revolutionary heroism” and a figure who embodied the intelligence, spirit, and conscience of the Vietnamese nation and era.
President Dissanayaka, visibly moved by the experience, expressed deep respect for the Vietnamese leader, describing him as an inspiration to independence and freedom movements across the globe. He also reflected with pride on Sri Lanka’s longstanding solidarity with Việt Nam during its revolutionary struggle.
The Sri Lankan leader was particularly interested in the history of the stilt house where President Hồ resided from 1958 to 1969. Built in the architectural style of ethnic minorities from Việt Bắc, the house served not only as a home but also as a strategic center for revolutionary planning and diplomatic engagement during pivotal years in Vietnamese history.

Surrounded by peaceful gardens, mango trees, and a serene fish pond, the site vividly represents Hồ Chí Minh’s love for nature and his modest way of life—elements that contribute to its cultural and symbolic richness.
President Dissanayaka extended heartfelt thanks to the Vietnamese State and President Cường for their warm hospitality, emphasizing that the visit to the relic site was a highlight of his trip and a powerful reminder of shared values between the two nations.
This diplomatic exchange at a place of such historical significance further reaffirms the cultural and ideological ties that bind Việt Nam and Sri Lanka. It also reinforces the role of President Hồ Chí Minh’s legacy as a lasting bridge for peace, friendship, and cooperation in the international community.
