President Trump has ordered the release of U.S. government files on unidentified flying objects and extraterrestrial life, signaling a dramatic shift in the administration’s approach to alien phenomena. Citing “tremendous interest shown,” Trump announced Thursday night via social media that he would instruct the defense secretary and other relevant departments to begin disclosing records related to UFOs, unidentified aerial phenomena, and any other associated intelligence. The decision comes amid growing public fascination with the possibility of life beyond Earth.

Trump’s announcement arrives in the wake of former President Barack Obama’s recent podcast comments acknowledging the statistical likelihood of alien life, though Obama clarified he had never seen evidence of extraterrestrial visitation. “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them,” Obama said over the weekend, sparking intense online debate and widespread speculation about potential hidden knowledge. Obama later walked back his remarks, emphasizing the vast distances between solar systems and the absence of concrete evidence of contact.

During a visit to Georgia for an economic speech, Trump addressed Obama’s statements, suggesting that the former president may have disclosed classified information. “I don’t know if they’re real or not. I can tell you, he gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that—he made a big mistake. He took it out of classified information,” Trump said.

The president’s directive could mark a significant moment in the public’s access to sensitive UFO investigations, as well as reignite international debate on the existence of extraterrestrial life. Analysts say the move reflects both public curiosity and the political potency of UFO disclosure, which has gained attention in recent years through congressional hearings and military reports.
