Azad Kashmir Founding Day 2024: Solidarity with Occupied Kashmir Grows

On the anniversary of the AJK government, we remember that on August 5, 2019, India unlawfully revoked Jammu & Kashmir's special status, violating UN resolutions that support the region's right to self-determination through a plebiscite.

Azad Kashmir Founding Day (یومِ تاسیس آزاد کشمیر) is celebrated in Azad Kashmir on 24 October each year. It commemorates the date of the establishment of the state in 1947.
Since the Kashmiri struggle for freedom in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has reached a climax amidst the pro-freedom and anti-India street agitation across the bleeding occupied Jammu Kashmir state (for the past over 4 years and the reign of state terrorism unleashed by the Indian occupying forces for the last 77 years, the government in the liberated territory has started due preparations to chalk out special programs to observe the founding anniversary of the State government.

The day will be celebrated with traditional zest and national fervor all across the liberated territory of AJK with the renewed commitment to continue the struggle for the freedom of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

The day will start with the presentation of a 21-gun salute in the state capital. Special prayers will be offered in mosques for the prosperity of Pakistan and the early liberation of IIOJK. Special functions, flag hoisting, and prayer ceremonies will be held at all district headquarters of the AJK state to mark the day.
AJK President, the Prime Minister, members of AJK Legislative Assembly, and other Kashmiri leaders will address various events to mark the occasion. Special tributes will be paid to the martyrs and heroes of the Kashmir liberation struggle with the pledge to never forget their enormous sacrifices.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir became an independent State on 24 October 1947. It is a day that symbolizes hope, sacrifice, continuous effort, and the struggle of our brothers to achieve the right to self-determination.

Azad Kashmir Day is celebrated with traditional zest and national fervor all across the liberated territory of AJ&K to mark the formation of the first revolutionary government set up under the leadership of ‘Ghazi-e- -Millat’ Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. Sardar Ibrahim chaired the historic meeting that adopted the resolution of Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan in 1947 at his Srinagar residence.

AJK territory was liberated by the sons of the soil from the despotic Dogra rulers. The structure of the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is almost the same as in Pakistan. AJK has an independent Executive, Legislature, and the Judiciary.

The AJK is a self-governing state with its own President, Prime Minister a separate flag, and its legislature. The AJK government had defined itself as a “War Council” formed with the sole objective of liberating IIOJK.

The past 77 years have witnessed enormous development in almost every sphere of life in AJK.
Pakistan’s government has significantly contributed to improving the lives of its people, infrastructural development, and establishing a democratic setup.

The AJK government’s role with the diplomatic support of Government of Pakistan (GoP) has been a vital part of Kashmiri’s freedom struggle, especially at the international level. As per the international covenants, IIOJK is a disputed territory and as per the UNSC resolutions, India cannot change the disputed status of IIOJK.

The enormous sacrifices of Kashmiris: martyrs and heroes of the Kashmir liberation struggle will never be forgotten and Pakistan will always support the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. Pakistan has always regarded Kashmir as the Jugular vein of Pakistan and owing to this reason Kashmir is an integral part of Pakistan’s foreign and military policies.

The anniversary of the emergence of the AJK government was being observed when India, through her shameful, forced, sinister unlawful act on August 5, 2019, scrapped the special status of the internationally acknowledged disputed Himalayan state of Jammu & Kashmir by abrogating article 370 and 35-A of her constitution by blatantly defying the United Nations Resolutions on Kashmir which determine the grant of right of self-determination to the people of the disputed Jammu & Kashmir state through a free and fair plebiscite granting Kashmiris the above right to decide about their destiny, under the auspices of the United Nations.

Through these ceremonies, Kashmiris will once again tell the world that they will continue their ongoing struggle for freedom till such time that the atrocities being committed against the innocent Kashmiris in the occupied Jammu Kashmir valley by the Indian occupational forces are brought to a permanent end.
They will reiterate the true spirit of the establishment of the government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir with the renewal of the pledge to make the area prosperous but also get their brethren in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir freedom from the Indian tyrannical rule.
