The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), representing 121 countries, issued a strong condemnation on Monday against Israel for its recent attack on Iranian territory, denouncing it as a grave breach of Iran’s sovereignty and international law. The attack, which claimed the lives of four Iranian military personnel and one civilian, was highlighted by NAM as a violation of Iran’s territorial integrity.
In its statement, NAM also criticized Israel’s use of Iraqi airspace to carry out the strike, calling it an infringement on Iraq’s sovereignty. Expressing solidarity with Iran, the movement stated that the attack contravenes the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4, which forbids the use of force against any nation’s sovereignty.
NAM urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take a firm stance against Israel’s actions and called for measures to prevent further aggression. The bloc reaffirmed the right of Iran and affected nations to defend their sovereignty in alignment with international law and UN principles.
Additionally, NAM voiced ongoing concern over Israel’s unaddressed actions against the people of Palestine, Lebanon, and other nations in the region, stressing the need for accountability and adherence to international obligations.
