Trading activity on China’s stock exchanges surged to its highest level in nearly six months on Wednesday, signaling growing bullish sentiment among investors, Bloomberg reported.
Turnover across mainland exchanges reached 2.15 trillion yuan ($300 billion), the most since Feb. 21, when markets rallied sharply after Deepseek’s artificial intelligence breakthrough. The figure has now topped the closely watched 2 trillion yuan threshold — a level many analysts see as a marker of strong risk appetite and a market under bullish control.
Chinese equities have climbed steadily in recent months, buoyed by abundant domestic liquidity and expectations of further policy support. On Wednesday, the Shanghai Composite Index broke above its Oct. 8 intraday high of 3,674.4, overcoming what traders had long viewed as a significant technical hurdle. The tech-focused ChiNext Index jumped 3.6%, its strongest single-day performance since January.
According to Bloomberg, a Bank of America survey of global fund managers shows investor sentiment toward China has shifted to “enthusiastic,” supported by optimism that Beijing will move to counter deflation. Recent policy steps have directed more capital into equities, prompting local brokerages to draw parallels between the current rally and previous bull market cycles.
