Unconfirmed reports regarding the health of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei have intensified after two sources described as being close to President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration claimed he is in an extremely critical condition and could die at any moment.
According to the claims published by IranWire, the two sources said Mojtaba Khamenei has not met any members of the Iranian cabinet since the reported U.S. attack on the Supreme Leader’s compound on 28 February, during which, according to the same account, his father and other family members were killed.
The sources further claimed that rumours of Mojtaba Khamenei’s deteriorating health are circulating widely among senior figures within the Iranian leadership. However, no official statement from the Iranian authorities has confirmed these claims, and the reported information remains unverified.
Since reportedly assuming the position of Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei has not made any public appearances or delivered any speeches, according to the report. Instead, only a limited number of letters attributed to him have been published through official Iranian news agencies. The absence of public appearances has, according to the report, contributed to speculation over his health and whether he remains capable of carrying out his duties.
One source described as being close to Pezeshkian’s cabinet reportedly confirmed that cabinet ministers have not met Mojtaba Khamenei since he assumed leadership. The source was also quoted as saying that his physical condition was poor, adding: “We would not be surprised if we heard news of his martyrdom soon.”
The report provides no additional evidence to support the claims regarding Mojtaba Khamenei’s medical condition, nor does it identify the sources cited. Iranian authorities have not publicly commented on the reported allegations, and no independent confirmation has been provided.
As a result, the reported claims remain unverified. The absence of official information has contributed to continued speculation, but there has been no public confirmation from the Iranian government or other authoritative sources regarding Mojtaba Khamenei’s health or the claims concerning his condition.
