He emphasized that without transparency in how opinions are shaped and amplified, the ideal of free speech risks being distorted by manipulation and division.
The French leader called for what he described as a clearer and more transparent pathway through competing narratives, adding that democratic societies must ensure a form of public order that prevents racism and hate speech from flourishing under the banner of liberty. He stressed that protecting open debate should not come at the cost of allowing harmful or discriminatory discourse to spread unchecked.
