Sri Lanka’s new Chinese Ambassador, Wei Huaxiang, met VIII Executive President Ranil Wickremesinghe at his political office on Flower Road in Colombo, in an engagement between China’s new diplomatic representative and the former Sri Lankan leader.
The meeting took place at Wickremesinghe’s political office on Flower Road, bringing together the Chinese ambassador and the former president in Colombo. The encounter comes as Wei Huaxiang begins his role as China’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, providing an opportunity for direct engagement with a prominent figure in the country’s political sphere.
The Chinese delegation included Deputy Ambassador Zhu Yanwei, Counsellor Mei Jing and Third Secretary Jin Enze, who also attended the meeting. Their presence placed the encounter within a broader diplomatic setting, with several members of the Chinese diplomatic mission joining the ambassador for the discussion.
Wickremesinghe, identified as Sri Lanka’s VIII Executive President, received Wei Huaxiang at his political office. The meeting was therefore held in a political rather than a formal government setting, while bringing together representatives of the Chinese diplomatic mission and Wickremesinghe.
