Reliable yet unconfirmed sources now claim that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has not returned from his recent trip to Moscow, sparking fears of further instability within the regime. According to reports, much of Assad’s close family is believed to be hiding outside of Syria, with many allegedly taking refuge in the UAE. This growing uncertainty has intensified speculation about the future of Assad’s government.
Fighting has escalated around key government sites, including clashes outside the Presidential Palace in Damascus and near the Chief of Staff Government building. In a further alarming development, Syrian State TV went offline today, abruptly halting broadcasts. This disruption has led many to suspect the possibility of a coup or military unrest.
In response to the escalating situation, Syria’s National Defense Forces (NDF), made up primarily of Christian-led groups in Hama, have been fully mobilized following the collapse of Aleppo, signaling a significant shift in the military landscape. Reliable Kurdish and Turkish sources have reported that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is deliberately blowing up its ammunition stockpiles to prevent them from falling into the hands of opposition groups, such as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
Adding to the volatility, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), supported by the US and Jordan, has declared a state of readiness and launched offensive operations against Syrian government forces in the Al-Tanf region in southern Syria. Meanwhile, in northern Homs, an unknown group set fire to a Syrian army checkpoint in Talbiseh, reportedly linked to opposition factions loyal to the Syrian Interim Government based in Turkey.
Growing rumours also suggest that Hossam Luke, Syria’s intelligence chief, may be attempting to overthrow Assad. Reliable sources have indicated that Luke’s actions could signal a major shift in the balance of power within Syria’s leadership.
