Nvidia has announced a major partnership with General Motors and introduced its latest AI superchip, Vera Rubin, as the company seeks to maintain its dominance in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence industry. CEO Jensen Huang unveiled these developments at Nvidia’s annual developer conference in San Jose, California, emphasizing the growing demand for AI-powered computing.
The collaboration with GM will see AI integrated into the automaker’s vehicles, factories, and robotics, positioning Nvidia at the forefront of AI-driven industrial automation. At the same event, Huang introduced the Vera Rubin superchip—named after the astronomer who discovered dark matter—which will succeed the company’s Grace Blackwell chips. Set for release in 2025, Vera Rubin is expected to deliver 3.3 times the computing power of its predecessor, with an even more advanced Vera Rubin Ultra slated for 2027, boasting 14 times the performance of Blackwell.
Huang highlighted AI’s “inflection point,” predicting a 100-fold increase in computing demand due to advancements in agentic AI—systems capable of reasoning and contextual understanding. Nvidia’s data center infrastructure revenue is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2028, driven by surging demand from cloud service providers and industries spanning automotive, pharmaceuticals, and social media.
Despite Nvidia’s technological breakthroughs, the company faces mounting competition. Chinese AI firm DeepSeek recently claimed to have developed a lower-cost AI model, challenging the billions of dollars invested in US-based AI infrastructure. Nvidia’s stock, which had surged over 350% in the past two years, has faced a recent downturn, losing 16% of its value since the start of 2024. Following Huang’s keynote, shares closed down 3.4% at $115.43, valuing the company at $2.8 trillion.

Now, with AI adoption accelerating across industries, Nvidia aims to stay ahead of the competition, proving that its chips remain at the heart of the AI revolution.
