Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, is recovering well after being attacked at his Bandra home last night. The actor sustained several serious injuries, including a deep wound to his spine, neck, and hand, but doctors at Lilavati Hospital have confirmed that he is out of danger.
Dr. Nitin Dange, who is leading Saif’s medical treatment, explained that the actor suffered significant damage to his thoracic spine when shards of the attacker’s knife lodged into his back during the altercation. “The spinal injury caused a leak of spinal fluid, which required immediate surgery. The knife was removed, and the spinal fluid was repaired,” Dr. Dange said in a statement.
In addition to the spinal injury, Saif also sustained deep stab wounds on his left hand and neck. The hospital’s plastic surgery team successfully repaired these wounds, and doctors confirmed that Saif is now stable and recovering well.
“We anticipate a full recovery,” another doctor stated, noting that Saif’s recovery is progressing as expected. “He is completely stable now, and we expect his recovery to be 100 percent.”
The shocking attack took place late at night when an unknown assailant entered the actor’s home with the apparent intention of committing a robbery. During a struggle, the intruder inflicted the injuries before fleeing the scene. Saif’s son Ibrahim, who was at home at the time, quickly acted to get his father medical help. Unable to find a car, Ibrahim assisted his bleeding father into an auto-rickshaw and rushed him to Lilavati Hospital, approximately two kilometers away.
Police have confirmed that the attacker has been identified, and ten teams have been deployed to apprehend him. “Preliminary investigations suggest that the attacker entered the house through the stairs with the intention of robbery,” a senior officer revealed. Further details will be shared once the suspect is in custody.
