In an interview set to air soon, former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe found himself visibly agitated during a Head-to-Head interview with Al Jazeera journalist Mehdi Hasan. The interview, which was filmed in London, saw Wickremesinghe struggling to maintain his composure as Hasan posed a series of pointed and difficult questions.
Sources close to the event revealed that at one point, the former president attempted to leave the venue in protest over the directness of Hasan’s inquiries. Wickremesinghe reportedly expressed his displeasure not once, but twice, as he grew increasingly frustrated with the journalist’s unrelenting approach. Despite his clear discomfort, the interview continued, with Hasan remaining firm in his pursuit of answers.
Al Jazeera’s Head-to-Head series, which bills itself as “Interviews with Attitude,” is known for tackling tough global issues and holding public figures accountable. This particular episode promises to offer a candid and intense exchange between two prominent figures in politics and media.
The programme, though filmed, has yet to be aired, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting the airing to witness the full extent of the confrontation. Al Jazeera’s audience will likely be watching to see whether Wickremesinghe’s brief outbursts will become a significant talking point, especially given the heightened global focus on Sri Lanka’s political climate.

Awaiting for the interview of this criminal politician who is in the spectrum of autism and suffering from juvenile Alzheimer
Became country’s president without people mandate and list many times in the presidential election!!
The cunning criminal who destroyed all his life, Sri Lanka.
What I know is, Ranil may not be a saint and as a lay person he will be doing things wrong at times as anyone else ( perhaps “Tom” would be one who never erred – had Tom lived during Jesus Christ’s time he would have thrown the first stone at the sinner ! 🙂 ) Ranil took over a bankrupt country with only $ 20 million foreign reserves, 70% inflation, 5 days long fuel queues, 10 hours a day power cuts, etc and did a remarkable economic turnaround within just 2 years to bring Sri Lanka out of bankruptcy !
Who destroyed Sri Lanka ? LTTE and JVP who collectively did 3 insurgencies over 30 years, killing more than 200,000 people and causing a collective property and infrastructure damage of more than $ 200 Billion ! Currrent total debt ( foreign and domestic ) of Sri Lanka is $ 90 Billion !!! You can do the math !
Great interview. He is a murderer who became a SL President without people’s mandate and ruined the country. His members are still in the government institutions.
