Criticising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) transformed Bihar’s infamous “jungle raj” into “good governance” and now aims to convert good governance into prosperity across the state.
Addressing a public rally in Begusarai, PM Modi said, “We transformed ‘jungle raj’ into good governance. Now the time has come to transform good governance into prosperity. I have come to seek your blessings for Bihar’s prosperity. It was in October 2005 when you freed Bihar from jungle raj and chose good governance. You must understand the power of your vote, and your vote will determine Bihar’s prosperity.”
The prime minister sharply criticised the opposition, stating, “On one side, there is the NDA, an alliance with mature leadership, and on the other side, there is the ‘Maha lathbandhan’.” He singled out the RJD, calling it arrogant and accusing its leaders of corruption. “The RJD family is the most corrupt family in Bihar, with most members out on bail. The Congress, too, has been following the RJD for thirty-five years. When self-interest prevails and loot is the goal, that’s exactly what the RJD and Congress are doing,” he said.
PM Modi also emphasised the law-and-order situation under RJD rule. “Law and order cannot exist where a party like the RJD is in power. Extortion, murder, ransom, and kidnapping flourished during their ‘jungle raj,’ ruining generations of Bihar. The biggest sufferers were mothers, sisters, youth, Dalits, backward and extremely backward classes,” he said during a rally in Samastipur earlier in the day.
During the Begusarai rally, the prime minister was felicitated with a special garland made from ‘Makhanas’ as a mark of respect from the local populace.
In his remarks, PM Modi accused the opposition of prioritising family interests over the welfare of Bihar’s youth, asserting that they are “setting new records of lies” before the state’s younger generation.
