Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has withdrawn from his scheduled appearance at the grand opening ceremony of City of Dreams Sri Lanka due to personal reasons, according to an official statement.

The City of Dreams Sri Lanka team confirmed that the event will proceed as planned despite Khan’s cancellation. A spokesperson for the development expressed regret over the star’s absence but emphasized their continued commitment to delivering a world-class event.

“We understand that many were looking forward to welcoming Shah Rukh Khan to Sri Lanka. We regret to disappoint them,” the spokesperson said. “We sincerely thank him for his continued support and well wishes, and we look forward to welcoming him to City of Dreams Sri Lanka in the near future.”

Organizers also announced that a special lineup featuring both local and international artists will be revealed in the coming days, underscoring their goal to position Sri Lanka as a global entertainment destination.

Khan’s management company, WizCraft, issued a statement attributing the cancellation to “unforeseen personal reasons beyond his control.” The statement noted that the actor holds Sri Lanka and its people in high regard and was genuinely excited to participate in the inauguration.

“While we regret his inability to attend, City of Dreams Sri Lanka management and his well-wishers express their heartfelt gratitude for their immense enthusiasm and support,” the statement read.
