A Turkish Airlines pilot tragically died after collapsing mid-flight, prompting the airline to make an emergency landing in New York. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening during Flight TK204, which was en route from Seattle to Istanbul.

According to airline spokesman Yahya Ustun, the 59-year-old pilot, who had been with Turkish Airlines since 2007, collapsed during the flight. Despite the efforts of the flight crew and the co-pilot to administer first aid, the pilot unfortunately did not survive before the aircraft could make a safe landing.

The airline confirmed that the pilot had passed a medical examination in March, which revealed no health issues. Ustun shared the news on X, formerly Twitter, expressing condolences and detailing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Turkish Airlines has not disclosed the pilot’s name, but the airline and its staff are mourning the loss of a valued member of their team. The airline is cooperating with relevant authorities as they investigate the tragic event.

Passengers on board have been offered support, and the airline is working to manage the aftermath of this unfortunate incident. Further updates from Turkish Airlines are expected as they navigate this difficult situation.
